I have been evaluating the ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE over the past couple of weeks, and what a belter of a machine it is...
The PC itself has sophistocated curvy panels and a sharp look. The 1005PE comes in a variety of colours, blue, black, pink and white. ASUS added a single mouse button. The left hand side of the netbook has a VGA and USB port. On the right side there is a 3-in-1 memory card reader, two USB ports, an Ethernet port, and headphone and microphone jacks. Above the display is a 1.3-mega-pixel web-cam this provided clear images when I tested a Skype video conference with a friend.
The netbook has a 10.1 inch screen with 1024x600 resolution and weighs 2.8lb. I watched a copy of 24 and it was clear and bright. The integrated speakers were OK and I listened to the local radio station all afternoon without any distortion or tinniness.
If you want to upgrade the memory, it can be done really easily by removing the plastic door on the back and add in another 2gb stick of memory. The hard drive takes a little more work to remove, but you also get 500gb online storage.
The netbook has a one year warranty and a free telephone tech support line if you need it.
In my opinion, the Eee PC Seashell 1005PE is a really value for money netbook machine and is about the same price as the previous netbook and undercuts some of the competition on price. Overall this netbook is better built than its predecessors, the battery life is very reasonable at about 8-10 hours of normal use. The feel is comfortable and sturdy and the keyboard is comfortable to type on.
I really like this little netbook, it is the best planned netbook that I have seen to date and is really good on the price. Take a look at some pricing from Amazon here
